ATW Companies Inc., a leading provider of custom manufactured metal components and services, announces that it recently hosted a lunchtime roundtable discussion at the Medical Product Outsourcing (MPO) Symposium East 2009 conference held in Waltham, Massachusetts. ATW Companies is the parent company of A. T. Wall Company, located in Warwick, RI, Judson A. Smith Company, located in Boyertown, PA, and Parmatech Corporation, located in Petaluma, CA.
ATW hosted a discussion on remaining competitive in the global marketplace, focusing on the most critical manufacturing decisions for medical device companies. The informal setting facilitated sharing among a wide range of companies involved in medical outsourcing.
One key issue discussed was the advantages of small and medium sized companies integrating as part of a parent company offering a broad range of capabilities.
John Shields, director of sales and marketing at Judson Smith, commented, “This is an issue that the sister companies within ATW have faced. We are all in different areas of the metal fabrication, with independent expertise. We’ve worked hard to integrate our offerings, leveraging the strengths of all the companies, and taking advantage of what each does well. We now have engineers working together, even sharing what were formerly considered industry trade secrets, enhancing our capabilities and making us a better choice as a vendor.”
John O’Brien, corporate sales for ATW Companies, who also participated in the discussion, agreed. “We have found that a key to remaining competitive in the global marketplace is taking advantage of both internal partnerships with our sister companies and external partnerships with companies in lower cost regions to deliver customers the best solution.”
